Today’s blog prompt from The Mother Hen is ‘a quote you try to live by’. This was an easy one for me. “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it”. I’m not sure who wrote this but I heard it years ago and it really stuck with me.
My husband is such an inspirational person, he lives and breathes this quote and I don’t even think he realises it. Neill came from the most horrible home and upbringing however he has dealt with the cards he was given in the most positive way possible. I won’t go into too much detail as it’s not my story to tell however I will say that most people who had his start in life would have gone down a very dark and dangerous path. He has taken everything negative and become the most hard working, dedicated father any little girl could ever want. He will attempt anything around the house (although isn’t so good at finishing what he started at times!) despite being constantly criticised and put down as a child and into his teenage years. He works every hour God sends to provide for his family and never ever complains about his 4am starts and 10pm finishes.
During difficult times I try to look at the positives despite being the biggest worrier on the planet. Our reactions to different situations we come across in life say a lot about us as people. I strive to be a “silver linings” kind of person to set a good example for our girls however difficult it might be to do so.
